As cited on Wikipedia, AMERICAN GIRL DOLL is a line of 18-inch dolls released in 1986 by PLEASANT COMPANY. These dolls as portray eight to eleven years old girls of a variety of ethnicities. They are sold along with a book that contains the story of the doll from its own point of view. When AMERICAN GIRL DOLL first started, the stories that were sold along with the doll were focused on various periods of American History until 1995, when they were expanded to include characters and stories from contemporary life. One particular feature of this doll is that you may also opt to purchase a doll made after the buyer’s likeness, a customize doll indeed. Their line also includes options that you may choose from, the eye color, eye shape, skin color, hair texture, and hair length. They also come with accessories that you can clothe your doll with.
AMERICAN GIRL DOLL also has a wide variety of doll lines that you can choose from. One is their HISTORICAL CHARACTERS line. This is the company’s initial line of dolls that were made by Gotz in Germany sometime during the late 1980s to the 1990s. This line aims to teach aspects of American History through a six-book series from the perspective of the doll, in a way that would look like they were living in that time. It is also notable in these books are their covers. They were flashed with child labor, child abuse, poverty, racism, slavery, animal abuse, and war. It may sound alarming but they were able to do it in a way that is sensitive to their young minds after all these were written for girls as young as eight years old.
They also had the Truly Meline, where they aim to let the customers choose dolls that would represent the individuality and diversity of today’s American Girls. The Truly Meline was also renamed multiple times, when it was first released as a contemporary line of dolls, it was named “American Girl of Today”, then come 2006 it was named “Just Like You”, and again in 2010 as “My American Girl”, and in 2015 it is now famously known as “Truly Me”. It is also specifically made with different face mold, skin tone, eye color, and hair color, length, texture, and/or style. Along with the Truly Meline is their wide array of clothes and accessories that purchasers can choose from for their dolls, plus furniture. To update this line of dolls, there were regular releases and retirements. It is also noteworthy that each year, a GIRL OF THE YEAR doll is released with special talents that we can all relate from.
Included on AMERICAN GIRL DOLL is THE BITTY TWINS line debuted in 2003 to represent slightly older toddlers and preschoolers. However, this line is no longer on the market since 2016.

Barbie has been strutting her figure, incredible fashion sense with her beau Ken since 1950s. American businesswoman Ruth Handler is credited with the creation of the doll using a German doll called Bild Lilli as her inspiration.
Barbie is undoubtedly a household name since its release in March 1959. And it is inspiring to think that the idea sparked when Ruth saw her child Barbara playing with paper dolls with adult roles. She was denied at first, however, when she bought three Bild Lilli, she was able to convince Mattel Inc. that this is a worthy investment. Three Barbie dolls were sold every second, around the world. And just like American Girl Dolls, Barbie has expanded its line to films, books, and video games. No regrets there. For the past half a century, Barbie which was named after Barbara has been inspiring girls all over the world that GIRLS DO RULE!
